Frequently Asked Questions
About the IDC
What is an International Disability Card?
The International Disability Card (IDC) is a communication aid designed to help people with visible or invisible disabilities communicate their situation easily and clearly. The card can help prevent misunderstandings or uncomfortable situations by providing a universally recognisable reference.
The card does not grant legal rights or privileges. It is intended purely as a supportive tool, especially useful when travelling or when language barriers make communication more difficult. The card includes a QR code that links to verification information about the International Disability Card.
Am I eligible for an International Disability Card?
Anyone who feels the International Disability Card would be helpful can apply. There are no restrictions, no medical documentation required, and no proof of disability needed.
Because the card functions only as a communication aid and does not provide official rights or benefits, it is accessible to anyone who may benefit from using it.
What information is displayed on the card?
Your card will include the following details:
- First name
- Last name
- Nationality
- Date of birth
- Card number
Will my disability be shown on the card?
No, your disability or medical condition will not be displayed on the card for privacy reasons. After your application is approved, this information is processed anonymously.
Can I use this card to park in disabled parking spaces?
Every country has different rules regarding disabled parking. Whether you can use this card for parking depends on the country and municipality where you live.
We highly recommend contacting your local authorities or relevant organizations to check the specific rules and requirements in your area.
